Being 34

Another birthday, another year. At this age, i believe its just number.

Yesterday, went to Todai's for my birthday. Nothing spectacular. I just love the food there - lots of seafood, and the all you can eat mini desserts. You can eat and eat and eat. Until you feel that stomach pain as you eat that last piece of tiramisu.

Where am i at 34??
  • a mom of 3 children
  • a wife of an elk hunter
  • a respiratory therapist
  • a crafter and amateur photo taker
  • an aunt of  9 nieces and nephews
  • a daughter to loving parents
So what did i get this year: photoshop elements (and yes, i really, really wanted and needed that) - now how do i tear myself away from this computer??

June 20th - weekend in eugene

Our weekend was spent in Eugene. It was different to be in a 'college town' for University of Oregon. Nothing like portland at all. Cute small town full of mom and pop stores and amazingly - no Starbucks, but Dutch Brothers Coffee. Yes, had to taste a cup and it was actually good and smooth.

We also headed to Wild Safari in Winston. Talk about being up close and personal to these animals!! It was incredible. All animals were behaved, especially my animals in the truck. ;) Bobby couldn't get over how close he was to the elk. I had a blast watching giraffes run - it is actually funny.

Yet of course, this weekend was also about scrapbooking with Come Play Eugene . Was able to scrap with Ali and Trisha. Love Ali's style and love Trisha's style in scrapbook supplies. I'm still working on the project that we started. It would have been done, but I'm still adding pictures.

Godiva

Have you had one of those moments, where you instantly see yourself in your child's eyes? I experienced one of those moments today at Godiva. Growing up, my mom would be shopping at Liberty House (what is now Macy's) and she would buy my sisters and I a bar of Godiva - we were able to each choose our own bar. I can still remember how each piece tasted and how it savored and lingered in my mouth as it melted. And just knowing that it was good chocolate - better than the chocolate nestle bars mom would occasionally buy.
While walking in the mall, Jadeline wanted chocolate. And she specifically pointed to the Godiva store when I said there wasn't a place to buy chocolate. (SO i fibbed a little given those bars are very expensive.) But all I could see was a picture of my mom having to buy 4 chocolate bars for my sisters and I. I sighed, and walked Jadeline straight to the Godiva store. I took a big breath, looked at Jadeline, (probably like how my mom looked at my sisters and I), pointed at the chocolate bars, and said, "choose one."
When we got home, Jadeline remembered that she still had 2 pieces left of her Godiva bar. I told her I ate it!! When in fact it was still in my purse. I could not believe that all of a sudden, she started tearing and whimpering softly . . my chocolate...my chocolate. All i could see in her red, wet and upset face was myself. Her love for good chocolate like her mother. I again sighed and smiled when she ate her last 2 pieces of chocolate. I looked at Bobby and said, "she is a Corpuz!" My mother would be proud. ;)
