Memorial Day Weekend

Alright, it wasn't the most exciting weekend with camping or bbqs or hanging out with friends . . . Memorial day weekend was nicely spent with my family -with each other. After all this rain we were getting this week, begged Bobby to have us get out of town and  just drive and do some sight seeing!! (Something my mom and dad did when I was little. I just remember my mom saying, "we're going around the island") So we headed out, and headed to the coast. It was nice, blue skies, warm, satisfying to see the ocean, and literally a breath of fresh air!! We had lunch at Mo's and Bobby and Jadeline decided to play some hide and seek. The kids spotted the cows and horses, while we admired the incredible homes in the country.
Well, this weekend also made Jadeline want to cook!! Yes, cook. So Saturday night, I taught her how to make rice, and we made fried rice. We chopped the leftover teriyaki meat, grated some carrots, beat some eggs, and Jade insisted to mix everything. She did well - and excited enough to insist in making Sunday nights rice.
On another note, I picked up this iPoint  pencil sharpener from Costco. I finally broke down after having to sharpen all of Jadeline's colored pencils with a manual $2.00 mini pencil sharpener - you know the one thats 1"x 1" in size.  Anyhow, its the greatest thing!! It self sharpens and I'm done sharpening in minutes!! And showed Jadeline how to use it, so I'm done sharpening pencils!! what was i thinking not getting this!!

fabric!!

I'm a little giddy because i finally found the fabric i like to use to make baby quilts, the mixed green and yellow thread to finish a caterpillar quilt, and more fabric to create!! I know, a little lame, but it makes me happy!! I usually just buy enough fabric to make what i need. So when i actually like how it turned out, i always can't find that fabric again!!! But then again, it ends up being one of a kind.
Lately, haven't been in the mood to scrapbook. Thank goodness, I'm meeting up with a few scrap friends on Friday to become reinspired. My pictures seem to just sit on this computer and it hasn't gone anywhere. I think I should print some to at least have some pictures on my hands.

On another note, took the kids to play with water at a park in Beaverton. With all this heat, figured, i'd cool them off. It was finally nice to be out in a heat i can tolerate.

other stuff

Been preoccupied in making these again, just trying to perfect it still. Can't wait to get the new Joel Dewberry ginseng fabric. I love this new collection.

So its 85 degrees here in Hillsboro, finally!! for once, walked out of the house in shorts! no jacket, no socks, no covered shoes, and no long pants! Its a beautiful day - blue skies but a whole lot of pollen flying in the air. Grrr.. i can't stand the pollen because its that time of year where my allergies act up. Thank goodness for alavert!

46lbs, 44 3/4" high = 95% percentile

. . .  thats how tall and how heavy my daughter is. Jadeline had a doctor's appt today - her physical before kindergarten with the oh so many required shots she had to take.  It went well, until i asked Jade's nurse to double check her height and weight. I don't make tall babies but Jadeline is literally growing fast before my eyes!!  And then the painful part of having 4 seperate shots 2 in each arm. At first it was a mere 'ouch' to holding her breath to watery eyes to a full blown scream of tears!! It was beyond painful to watch and for half a second the thought of , "sorry baby, better you than me" whispered in my head - I know terrible mommy! But I broke down and had to make it up to her with a barbie fashion scene toy and Bratz doll. Its amazing how toys can make children forget the pain. And my pain of $15.00 worth of toys. . . .

Exercising

I've contemplating it. I've been thinking about it. Trying to justify if i should really work out. I didn't want a contract. I didn't want to be obligated to a fitness center for years. Well, after looking at my sick patients, after wondering if I'll ever be on my death bed like a few of them are, . . . i thought i better take some measure to do something about it. At work they have this thing called, "boot camp" & for $100 you get a personal trainer for an hour 3 x a week for 7 weeks. Its actually 22 sessions though -even better. Not bad huh? no commitment and I'm forced to go since it starts at 7am - right after work. Picture to the right is not me. I wish! I just want to gain upper body strength and be toned. Day one was 5/5 am! It was great!! It hurts, my muscles are now awake,  but it feels good!! Can you believe that I wish it was work out day today? I have to wait till wednesday morning. good sign....

HAPPY NSD DAY!

I'm giggling because its national scrapbook day. Its a personal thing. And as much as my family and friends laugh and roll their eye at me, . . . its okay. Scrapbooking is my thing, and I love it!! Have i done any layouts today? Well if i didn't have to work the past 3 nights, I could have worked on one - maybe. But my goals are still there. I need to complete 2 sometime this month.
Attached are my latest creations.
