Busy weekend

We had a productive weekend - enjoying the county fair and hawaiian festival. We haven't been to the fair in a few years, so being out there was a huge eye opener for us. Of course, the lovely smell of the cows, horses, and pigs reminded us of being out in the 'country'; its sure not cheap anymore! I remember growing up playing games that cost 25 cents or 50 cents. Gee, talk about inflation. One game can cost you $3.00. But of course its all about the fun right?? And as much as Jadeline loves that Merry go round ride ( I honestly wanted to tell the ride operator to stop as i began to feel dizzy), its an experience she has to do. My dad gave me that experience, so she deserves it too.

We also drove to Vancouver where they held a hawaiian festival. It was great listening to a variety of Hawaiian music or to be around local people speak pidgin. It felt like home again. But I can't believe that we stood in line for almost 45 minutes for malasadas! It wasn't the same, but as close as we could get.

Arguing

Been scrapbooking. Above are 2 of the many pages i've put together in the past few days. It's an Ali lift. Pretty identical. Normally, i try to make it my own. But this time, I forced myself to just copy a layout.

On another note, on the topic of arguing. Lately, I've realized that Bobby and I have argued a few times. That is twice. Not the normal relationship type of disagreements. You know, the 'why didn't you do this?', 'stop spending - we don't have enough money!' OR 'the you don't have time for me.' We actually haven't argued in a very long time. EXCEPT, we've been disagreeing a whole lot about our sweet tooth! I have to laugh because a few weeks ago, we argued about what type of variety doughnuts we should have at Krispy Kreme. In fact we were in the drive-thru, and because we couldn't make a decision, we went thru the drive-thru - let the worker know that we'd just come in. Or tonight about candy! I specifically told Bobby that the mint 3 musketeers was mine and i wasn't sharing (since he chose the starburst). SO he gives me a hard time that he ate my candy!!  I know.. we need a life.......

Callling ELK?

I was hoping it would be one of my boy who would be interested in hunting with their father. Its a guy thing right? Running around in the mountain, dressing in camo, hiking all day long, being fascinated with watching deer and elk, learning to shoot a bow & arrow, and having that thrill and excitement?? But its my 5 year old daughter who sparks that interest. Its my little girl. Its my princess. Its my child who has to wear dresses everyday. But lately, her interest has been playing with her father's elk calls. It keeps her preoccupied. It keeps her entertained every hour as she sits on her stool, blowing on these devices, and trying to perfect and correct each call. Its her father's greatest moment... grrr...

Keeping Busy

Life during the summer can sure keep you busy and preoccupied. I keep telling myself that i need to blog something, but then I find myself crafting (actually finished a baby quilt for a co-worker, a personalized bracelet, redid our living room curtains and front door curtain, a quilt block (for a monthly quilt club), finished 1 bag and messed up on another, ordered a 100 photos for $1.00 (yes, a big fat dollar - a july 4th special @ snapfish.com), and finished my 2007 summer album.

Other stuff that we did:
  • Lots of eye doctor visits for Bobby
  • Creating chalk art
  • Berry picking
  • Hapa concert
  • Helvetia Tavern

a Treasure

We've been living in this house for 2 years. And we finally found a treasure - that is to me. Not gold, not a winning lottery ticket - nothing like that. Our backyard has a cherry tree! And not just a cherry tree but a ranier cherry tree!! Yes, Jadeline and I already got into it and it was yummy!!
