I'm Nervous

Today was Kindergarden orientation for Jadeline. It was a big day. We've talked about kindergarden for awhile now. We've been doing homework, and trying to get her prepared. She was excited!! Today she couldn't figure out what she was going to wear until dad said, "Anything, Jadeline. Its not a fashion show." She was dressed by noon - orientation wasn't till 3pm. As we got there, Jadeline seemed reluctant. I asked her what was wrong? And she said, ". . . uh, I'm nervous!" And I just had to giggle...

On another note, been making mother's day gifts, still making those purses/bags, stethoscope covers, and still trying to figure out how to make a new quilt (i think i have a quilt block or something).

Happy Birthday Ashton!!

Happy 13th Birthday Ashton!! Our second child is finally a teenager. Do they grow up fast or what!! Again, we went to Todai's for dinner. You have to love the place - all you can eat buffet, growing kids eating all the seafood that their eyes can take, and unlimited desserts! Ashton's favorite - shrimp, crab, and creme brulee. Yet the ultimate dish for this party was bowls and bowls of manilla clams. I counted at least a minimum of 10 bowls/servings. Incredible!
So what do you get a young teenager? We broke down and gave him a cell phone. The excitement, the big surprise, and unending smile from ear to ear was worth it!! Its really cute to watch him make phone calls, and not want to let go of his phone. And although no one really knows his number - seeing him anticipate a phone call makes us just giggle.

Baking

Sometimes, boys need to know how to bake. I believe its important, and one day, I hope they will someday be grateful that they know how to make a cake from a box, or bake cookies with a recipe from a bag. When Troy made brownies and didn't spread the mix evenly into the pan - it wasn't exactly presentable. BUT he created 2 things - one side was brownie and the other side was a 'cookie' brownie. Maybe it didn't look perfect, and it was a big mess, but their cookies and brownies was honestly good.

My Baby's 14 today!!!

Happy birthday sweetheart!! Can't believe he is 14 today. He is 5'3" tall at 160 lbs. Incredible how fast they grow. And to think he was just 7 lbs 8 oz., when he was born!!! Besides skateboarding, he's into his Xbox 360 in particular playing call of duty and guitar hero 3. Loves this skate brand called Famous Star, DVS and DC's. Has a favorite appetite in sushi - his fave: unagi (eel) sushi, tobiko (eggs), and salmon. Loves the colors gold and white right now - very pure and bold i think. As fast as he is growing physically especially with his voice changing, I am still relieved that he is as innocent as can be (so far), has that little boy laugh, and still enjoys watching the cartoon Tom & Jerry.
